About Frictology

Frictology is a research project that asks how intentional friction can make digital systems more human, especially as AI mediates more and more of our choices. We draw on cognitive psychology, AI ethics, and interaction design to build and try out frameworks and patterns that push back against shallowfication and promote human agency.

Frictology was created by Max (more at https://max.onl ) and runs as an ongoing inquiry with practitioners and teams who want tech that supports reflection rather than pure velocity, and who care about autonomy, attention, and what good interaction should actually feel like in real life.

Working Hypothesis: Friction isn’t the flaw; it’s the thing that makes meaning.
